As we know, our families provide for our basic needs: food, clothing, shelter, care and support.  Most families go way beyond that. Families also bring love and joy to our lives. They nurture us by supporting us and challenging us. They give us the strength and wisdom to go beyond the family to contribute to the lives of others, and, for that reason, they are the basic building blocks of our society.
